CLARA MARGARET (MARGIE) BARNETT
(8/4/1920 – 3/4/2008)
Clara Margaret (Margie) Barnett, daughter of Harry and Avis L. (Gundy) Choulett was born August 4, 1920 in Downing, MO, and passed away at Schuyler County Nursing Home in Queen City, MO, on March 4, 2008. In 1932, the family moved to Lancaster, MO.
She was united in marriage to Robert Woodrow Barnett on January 1, 1943 and to this union three children were born. Woodrow preceded her in death in June 1965.
In 1969, Margie married John E. Barnett and moved to Kalamazoo, MI. She and John returned to Lancaster, MO in June 1987. John preceded her in death in November 1989.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, Harry E. Choulett and one sister, Myrldean Hill.
Margie is survived by her three children, Linda Kay Martin and husband, Donnie of Lancaster, MO, James Robert Barnett and wife, Linda of Jefferson, IA and Charles Andrew Barnett and wife, Mary of Cincinnati, OH; three grandchildren, Lisa Silvers and husband, Steve of Libertyville, IA, Ben Martin and wife, Charla of Palmyra, MO and Jessica Barnett of Cincinnati, OH; two step-grandchildren, Andy and Scott Mobarry of Cincinnati, OH; five great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandchild; one sister-in-law, Jane Choulett of San Francisco, CA; one niece and three nephews.
Margie attended Northeast Missouri State Teachers College, graduating with a B.S. degree in education. Over the years, she taught in rural schools and in the Lancaster Public School System, retiring in 1970. She was an active member of the Christian Church in Lancaster, MO, the Lancaster Garden Club, the Order of the Eastern Stars and PEO.
Margie loved and treasured her family and her many friends.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, MO with Sonny Smyser, pastor of the Lancaster United Methodist Church assisted by Steve Altheide, pastor of the Lancaster Christian Church officiating. Music will be provided by soloist, Beth Gravett. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, MO. Memorials have been established for Schuyler County Historical Society. Burial will be in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, MO. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster, MO.
