Anna Elizabeth McClamroch, 75, of Memphis, MO, died Sunday January 27, 2008, at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital, in Memphis. She was born February 1, 1932 in rural Scotland County, MO, the daughter of Fred M. and Anna Gardine Mathes. She attended grade school at the Poe rural school and graduated from Memphis High School with the class of 1949.

On June 12, 1949, Elizabeth married Hillis R. McClamroch at the Rutledge Methodist Church. They were parents of four children, Hillis Lynn, Barbara Marie, twin sonsí Mitchell Lee and Michael Dean. Michael died soon after birth.

Elizabeth became a member of the Rutledge Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and was active in the Womenís Society of Christian Service. Later she moved her church membership to the Memphis United Methodist Church and attended regularly as long as her health permitted. Elizabeth was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and her family was her greatest joy.

As well as a partner in the farm business, she worked at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital for 26 years and retired from a manager position there in Jan. of 1997. Following her retirement she enjoyed traveling, her flower gardens, reading and planning family events.

Preceding her in death is her son Michael Dean, her parents, a grandson Zachary Cole McClamroch, a brother Paul Kenneth Mathes, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Denver and Jody McClamroch.

She is survived by her husband Hillis of 58 years of Memphis, MO, her children: Lynn McClamroch and wife Mary Ann of Kirksville, MO, Barbara Childress and husband Gary of Greentop, MO, Mitchell McClamroch and wife Nancy of Memphis, MO, three grandchildren: Lance and Lucas McClamroch of Kirksville, MO, and Paige McClamroch of Memphis, MO., her brother Wayne Mathes and wife Anna Jean of Bolivar, MO, sister-in-law Betty Mathes of Kershaw, SC, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family has suggested memorials to the Scotland County Cancer Fund and may be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison, Memphis, MO 63555.

Visitations will be Wednesday, January 30, 2008, from noon until 8:00 p.m. at the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be on Thursday, January 31, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. at the Memphis United Methodist Church, Memphis, MO, with Rev. Terry Lippstreu officiating. Musicians will be Ann Luther, pianist and Heather Robinson, soloist. Pallbearers will be: Lucas McClamroch, Gary Wild, Cody McClamroch, Jesse Ketchum, Lance McClamroch, and Jason Ketchum. Honorary Bearers will be Don Pence, Winn Hill, Ora Armstrong, Frank Reed, Bud Garrett and Basil Humphrey. Interment will be in the Memphis Cemetery, Memphis, MO. Arrangements are being handled by the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO.
