Fitness Center Hopping Into Holidays With Busy December Schedule
Thanksgiving is in the books and the holiday season is in full swing. December is a busy month at the Scotland County Fitness Center, even as members prepare to make getting fit their New Yearís Resolution.
Once again the board hosted its annual open house last weekend with guests getting a 10% discount on memberships purchased that day.
The gymnasium schedule is filling in. Tuesday nights are reserved for traveling team basketball practice from 5 Ė 7 p.m. through March. The hoops schedule carries over to Wednesday nights as well, as the gym is reserved for basketball open gym. All participants, members and non-members, pay $2 to participate.
The roundball play requires nets on Thursday nights as December marks the start of the winter coed volleyball league with games scheduled throughout the evening for league teams.
December also marks the start of aerobics classes at the Rec Plex. These classes are free to the public and tentatively set to begin this week on Tuesday and Thursday from 5:15 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The dance season is winding down for the inagural year of lessons by instructor Jeanne Snodgrass. However plans are already underway for the 2009 dance class schedule so stay tuned for more details.
One constant throughout the year is the circuit training classes. The weight room is pumping Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The classes are free.
As always the walking trail and exercise equipment are available to members 24 hours a day, seven days a week. To become a member contact the Rec Plex at 465-2999 and leave a message. Daily memberships are available as well as weekly passes. Memberships are also offered in one-month, three-month and six-month sessions as well as the standard annual membership. Membership rates are available for individuals, families, students (K-12) and seniors (over 62 years old).
