Pheasants Forever Fundraiser Set For Saturday Night in Memphis

Hunters that dont get their limit on Saturday when the 2008 upland game bird seasons officially open, will have a second chance to get their fill of pheasant, quail and a variety of other outdoor-related items at the annual Pheasants Forever banquet in Memphis.

The hunting season opens Saturday, November 1st, and that evening outdoor enthusiasts will be gathering at the Memphis VFW to help support the national organization that guarantees 100% of the proceeds from the banquet will be used locally to build wildlife habitat and support conservation education activities.

Doors will open at 5:00 p.m., with dinner, catered by Steves Family Dining of Kahoka, to begin serving at 6:30 p.m. The live auction of framed wildlife prints, hunting accessories, home dcor items and much more, is set to start at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets for the event are $40, and include the annual membership dues for PF, or a couple can attend for $50. Youth age 15 and under may attend for $15, which includes the cost of a Ringneck junior membership in PF.

The auction list includes prints by Scot Storm, Leo Stans, Steven Kozar, Michael Sieve and several other well-known artists. Other items on the auction list include a Sporthunter 1800 dog training collar, a collectors bronze, game room accessories including a PF pool cue and a dart board and much more.

The fundraiser will feature a number of entertaining games of chance throughout the evening. Participants will have the opportunity to compete in raffles and other contests for a chance to win a CZ USA Woodstock 12 gauge over and under shotgun, a Tikka T3 Lite 22-250 stainless steel rifle with a Nikon scope, an SKB 585 Silver 12 gauge over and under shotgun (the PF Gun of the Year) and a Henry Golden PF Edition rifle.

Bidders in the auction will find a unique feature in 2008 with the Bump the Bid option. The winning buyer on each auction item will have the option to bump their bid an additional $20, automatically earning them a chance in a special drawing for a Taurus Model 63. 22 rifle.

Youth present for the banquet will be entered in a drawing for a Henry mini-bolt Ringnecks Edition rifle or a Crossman 760 BB/pellet rifle.

A Mad Rose Auction will be held for the ladies, with eight vases of roses being auctioned off. Each vase will contain a number for a drawing for additional prizes.

The Shotgun Pull offers players a chance to pull shotgun shells from a hidden source. The color of the randomly selected shell will determine the number of chances the player will receive for a drawing, which prizes will include a camouflage recliner donated by Gerth & Baskett Furniture, a $100 gift certificate from Mayberry Farms and other prizes.
