Homecoming Festivities Extended to Saturday
The traditional homecoming festivities at Scotland County R-I School District will have a slightly different look in 2008. With the football game scheduled for Saturday afternoon, the festivities will last a day longer this year.
Students at SCR-I will be participating in the days leading up to the game in a number of spirit week events. Students decked out in special attire for pajama day and sock day early in the week.
The theme of the 2008 Homecoming is Super Heroes, so Wednesday saw the kids and faculty members dressed up like their favorite hero.
September 18th is mismatch day with Friday capping off the week with the traditional school colors feature on blue and white day.
The homecoming parade will begin at 2:15 p.m. on Friday, September 19th. Former SCR-I instructor Jo Beth Harvey will be the grand marshal.
A spirit bonfire and pep rally will be held at Tiger Stadium at 8:00 p.m. The homecoming king and queen coronation will be followed by performances by the SCR-I band and pom squad.
The football game will kick off at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday as the Tigers take on the Cole Camp Bluebirds. The new addition to the 2008 schedule will be traveling to Memphis from Cole Camp, Missouri, which is located south of Sedalia. The Bluebirds are 3-0 and coming off a 63-13 win over Sacred Heart of Sedalia.
Following the football game, high school students and their dates will be guests at the 2008 homecoming dance from 9:00 p.m. to midnight in the elementary school gym.
