Bible Grove to Host 18th Annual Preservation Day
If the Bible Grove Historical Preservation Committee were a student it would be graduating this year. For the 18th consecutive year the community group will be focusing on school as the Bible Grove School will once again host the Bible Grove Preservation Day on Saturday, August 16.
The 18th Annual Event will get underway at 10:00 a.m. when the food stand opens. Spectators and participants will be arriving then for the start of the trap shoot, one of the larger events of its type in the area. (Prospective shooters can contact Lisa Wells at 883-5623 to register or for more information).
Lunch will feature kettle beans and corn bread with serving starting at noon.
The afternoon entertainment will include demonstrations by the Indian Creek Muzzleloaders, who will host a black powder shoot at 1:30 p.m.
Kids games will start at 2:00 p.m. with youth getting to take part in a hay scramble, the dime toss and the old jailhouse. Dessert will start walking about at 3:00 p.m. as the cake walk will get underway and reward several lucky winners with tasty homemade pastry.
A baby show will be held at 4:00 p.m. with divisions for 0-3 months, 4-6 months, 7-11 months, 1-2 years and 3-4 years. To register contact Heather Goodin at 465-2087. The show will giveaway $200 in prizes with Mona’s Studio providing photos of the winners.
The photographer will also be on hand from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. to offer family and student photos utilizing the school backdrop. The Bible Grove School is listed on the National register of Historic Places.
The menu again takes top billing at 6:00 p.m. with the hog roast. After supper entertainment will include Uncle John’s Karaoke.
Prize drawings will be held later in the evening with a 50/50 cash award as well as drawings for a gas grill and a garden wagon and much more.
Guests are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and join the crowd at the Bible Grove School for good food and old fashioned fun.
