Two Injured In ATV/Motorcycle Crashes
Two local men were injured in a pair of accidents involving motorcycles and all-terrain vehicles (ATV) this weekend in Scotland County.
James R. “Rodney” Sears, 16, of Memphis, suffered minor injuries when he was ejected from the ATV he was driving on private property, five miles southeast of Memphis.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at 6:00 p.m. on May 10th. Sears was driving a 2004 Yamaha ATV eastbound in a yard, when the vehicle struck a ditch, ejecting Sears. He was taken by private auto to Scotland County Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
According to the Patrol, a second accident occurred at 7:30 p.m. that evening.
Robert L. Chance, 49, of Memphis, was seriously injured when he lost control of the motorcycle he was driving.
Chance was northbound on a 1978 Honda in a private drive when he apparently lost control of the motorcycle. He was ejected from the bike during the crash, suffering serious injuries. Chance was transported to Scotland County Memorial Hospital and later was transferred to Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.
