Community to View Bridge, Airport Projects
Community pride will take center stage Saturday April 26th in Scotland County. A pair of local improvements will be highlighted by special ribbon-cutting ceremonies being planned by local resident Lynn Kirkpatrick.
Guests will gather at Federal Bridge #153 located off Highway 15 two miles east of the radio tower at 1:30 p.m. The new structure will be formally opened for traffic with a ribbon cutting. Judge Karl DeMarce will be master of ceremonies offering a brief history on the project that combined federal, state and county resources.
At 2:30 p.m. a similar program will be held at Briggs-Smith Memorial Airport west of Memphis on Highway 136. A ribbon-cutting for the taxiway expansion project will be held at 2:30 p.m.
Kirkpatrick indicated numerous local, state and federal representatives have been invited to attend the festivities.
“We live in the greatest town in America as far as I’m concerned, so I think it is important to pay tribute to the progress being made to maintain and improve our community,” Kirkpatrick said.
