NWTF to Host 6th Annual Banquet in Memphis

Young hunters took the woods last weekend and adults will follow them beginning April 21st in the chase for a Missouri gobbler. In between turkey hunters, outdoor enthusiasts and art connoisseurs will have their day in Memphis.

The 6th Annual Lake Show Me Longbeards chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation hunting heritage banquet will be held April 19th. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. on the NWTF fundraiser at VFW Post #4958. Dinner will be served at 7:00 p.m.

Following the meal guests will have an opportunity to participate in a number of games and other entertainment while a live auction will determine the new owners for a long list of wildlife art, home dcor, hunting accessories and much more.

One of the 100 ticket holders will be drawn to decide the winner of the NWTF Gun of the Year. In commemoration of NWTFs 35th anniversary, the group commissioned a limited edition .300 Weatherby Vanguard Deluxe. One of the numbered editions will be given away Saturday night in Memphis. Tickets will be on sale at the event.

The live auction will feature framed prints by wildlife artists such as Bruce Miller, Thomas Kinkade and Terry Redlin. Home dcor items will include limited edition bronzes, a clock, bookshelf, lamps and much more all with wildlife themes.

For more information on the event or to reserve your tickets contact Tom Coffrin at 660-465-2443.

Thanks to the work of wildlife agencies and the NWTFs many volunteers , today there are more than 7 million wild turkeys and almost 3 million hunters. Since 1985, the NWTF and its cooperators have spent $258 million upholding hunting traditions and conserving more than 13.1 million acres of habitat.

The NWTF is a nonprofit organization with 584,000 members in 50 states, Canada, Mexico and 14 other foreign countries. It supports scientific wildlife management on public, private and corporate lands as well as hunting as a traditional North American sport.
