Benefit Auction Aiming to Replenish Cancer Fund
Guests at the Fourth Annual benefit for the Scotland County Cancer Fund not only will be supporting an excellent cause this weekend, they will have the opportunity to take home some exciting merchandise for their efforts.
The local charity will treat guests at the ham & bean supper to dinner beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Memphis VFW with patrons asked to make a free will donation for supper.
Organizers hope the guests will keep their checkbooks out for the auction to follow where numerous items donated to the cause will be sold to the highest bidder with the proceeds going to help local families that are dealing with cancer.
Scotland County Cancer Fund president Margaret Curry said the partial list of items to be sold at the fund raiser holds promise of allowing the group to surpass last yearís record total of $6,500.
The early list of auction items includes St. Louis Cardinals tickets, a recliner, a 10/bird pheasant hunt, and a framed 2006 mint dollars series framed set. The high bidders will be taking home a Black & Decker drill, two hand crafted wooden bowls made by Arlo Trueblood, a hand crocheted afghan, and food gift certificates from area restaurants like Mís Place and the Catfish Place or gift certificates from local merchants like Red Hot Nails and Monroe Chiropractic Clinic. Other auction items include Coors Light, Miller Lite and Budwesier memorabilia, car wash tokens, t-shirts, pocketknives, tools, hunting accessories and much, much more.
