El Mezcal Restaurant Open For Business in Memphis
Mexico has come to Memphis, well at least the cuisine anyway. El Mezcal restaurant officially opened on the east side of the city square on December 18th.
The new eatery features authentic Mexican cuisine created by cook Jorge Aguilar. The menu features a huge variety of food ranging from the traditional tacos and burritos to enchiladas and flautas, deep fried corn tortilla filled with beef or chicken and cheese and rice. In all there are 25 different combination platters available.
Owner and manager Jesus Granillo has the restaurant open seven days a week. Doors open at 11:00 a.m. for lunch, which is served until 3:00 p.m. and features numerous lunch specials. Dinner hours last until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday through Thursday, with Friday and Saturday featuring extended hours until 10:00 p.m.
“We proudly prepare your food to order with only the freshest ingredients,” the menu professes amidst more than three pages of mouthwatering options.
Granillo points out the menu not only offers quantity and quality but also can pride itself on affordability.
“The lunch menu starts at $4.75, making it an affordable option for our customers,” he said.
The new restaurant currently employees five staff members, covering the 27 different tables that all have been full at numerous points in the brief history of the new eatery.
Granillo said the facility is still awaiting its state liquor license, which will allow it to offer Margaritas and other traditional alcoholic drinks as well as wine and beer with dinner.
