Putnam County Pounds SCR-I Lady Tigers 15-0
Taking on the reining district champions is a daunting task in itself, but doing so without the services of your #1 pitcher proved more than the Scotland County softball team could handle as Putnam County blanked SCR-I 15-0 in a Tri-Rivers Conference game September 20th in Memphis.
With Kelly Lister on the shelf with tendonitis in her pitching hand, Kaitlin Caldwell took the ball for the Lady Tigers. The junior did not receive any help from the SCR-I defense, as Scotland County committed six errors in the top of the first inning allowing the Midgets to jump out to a 9-0 advantage.
SCR-I threatened in the bottom of the first after base hits by Kirsten Johnston and Deidra Dochterman but the runners were stranded.
Tara Matlock and Jessica Bair had the only other two hits for SCR-I as the Lady Tigers were shut out through four innings.
Putnam County pushed three more runs across in the second inning without the benefit of a hit, taking advantage of two errors and three base on balls. A single tally in the third was followed by two runs in the fourth to end the contest by the 15-run rule.
