Lady Tigers Mash Milan to Even League Record

The Scotland County softball squad evened its Tri-Rivers Conference mark at 2-2 by demolishing Milan 15-0 in action at Johnson park in Memphis on September 18th.

The Memphis bats came alive in the bottom of the third inning to push across 13 runs and end the game by the 15-run rule.

SCR-I jumped on top 2-0 in the opening frame. Valerie Oldham homered to produce the first run. Kelly Lister singled and scored after back-to-back hits by Kellyn Wickert and Andrea Shelley.

Lister worked out of a bases loaded jam in the second inning to keep Milan scoreless before the offensive eruption in the final trip through the SCR-I lineup.

Nine successive batters reached base in the bottom of the third inning. Deidra Dochterman and Lister each reached via walks to start the rally. After Wickert reached on an error to load the bases, Shelley delivered her second RBI hit of the night. Lacey Jack followed with an RBI hit before Megan Westhoff was hit by a pitch to force in another run and make it 5-0.

Melissa Cotton and Kirsten Johnston continued the hitting onslaught as they both delivered RBI singles. After the first out of the inning was recorded, Lister cleared the bases with a three-run homer that made it 12-0. Shelley then walked and scored on a triple by Jack. Westhoff delivered an RBI double and came home to score the final run on a triple by Cotton that ended the contest.

Lister picked up the win. She worked three scoreless innings, allowing two hits and a walk while striking out 1.
