Community Bank Team Wins 11th Annual Fall Scramble
Thirteen four-man teams converged on Timber Ridge Golf Course Wednesday, September 12th for the 11th Annual Fall Scramble, and the course is much better off because of it. The traditional fundraiser chaired by course members Laddie Briscoe and Roger Robinson helped raise more than $3,000 for the course.
The Community Bank of Memphis team captured first place in the championship flight, carding an 11 under par score of 57. The team, consisting of Gary Dial, Steve Dial, Charlie Boyer and Andy Boyer donated the first place prize of $300 back to the clubís new roof fund.
The Mid-Am Building Supply team of Donnie Middleton, Truman Reynolds, Duane Fountain and Gale Baker took second with a score of 59.
Third place went to the Stine Seeds team of Scott Biggerstaff, Dan Shirey, Ron Hoener and Kent Logdson who shot a 60.
In the A flight it was the Bentz GM team taking top honors with a score of 66. The team consisted of Kirk Watson, Kent Watson, Roger Riebel and Kevin Fromm.
Second place went to Northeast Missouri Rural Telephone Co. Jason Hill, Max Eggleston Jeff Grogan and Jeff Kimm shot a 67.
Third place went to the Catfish Place team of Mark Mattlingly, Tom Barrickman, Roger Robinson and Mark Holt. They shot a 68 and donated the $100 prize to the roof fund.
Dan Shirey won the putting contest sponsored by Farm Bureau Insurance agent Greg Shelley. Truman Reynolds and Ron Hoener tied for second in the event.
The tournament featured numerous prizes sponsored by Memphis Lumber, Pepsi Cola Memphis Bottling Co., the Memphis Democrat, Bentz GM (sponsored a hole-in-one contest that included a new car prize), NEMO Distributing, the Catfish Place, Gas & More, SC Vending, VFW Post #4958, and Keithís Cafe.
