The Scotland County high school athletic department would like to announce its summer strength and conditioning schedule.
Tuesday, May 29th, Tiger athletes, in grades 9-12, began preparing for the 2007-2008 sports schedule. Training days are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, through June and July, a total of 24 sessions. The program is a three-day workout routine which consists of stretching, weight training, agility, and conditioning. Athletes should choose which time slot best fits their schedule and report promptly at the beginning of each session. Those students participating in football must attend a minimum of 75% of the workouts in order to be game eligible.
Junior high athletes will be participating in a two-day program beginning Monday, June 4th at 9 a.m. Training sessions will be held each Monday and Wednesday, June through, July. Sessions will last approximately one hour. The junior high program will also include stretching and agility drills. The strength program will focus on proper lifting techniques, rather than weight used. Safety is of utmost concern.
Through strength and conditioning training, athletes will reduce their chances of injuries, be able to recover quicker, should they get injured, be physically stronger, and will play with added self-confidence and self-esteem.
Please call Brent Bondurant at 465-8907 for further information. The program is open to both male and female athletes.
