Lady Tigers Finish Second at Junior High Track Meet
The Scotland County junior high girls track team finished in second place at the team’s home meet on April 30th. Putnam County claimed the team title for the Scotland County Invitational with 121.5 points, followed by the Lady Tigers with 84 points.
Knox County took third place with 65 points followed by Schuyler County, Canton, Clark County, Brashear and North Shelby.
SCR-I dominated the field events to rack up the majority of the team’s points. Loren Smith took first place in the shot put with a throw of 33’3¼”. Katlyn Miller earned first place in the discus with a toss of 84’4”.
Elizabeth Duzan and Andrea Middleton finished second and third in the high jump, clearing 4’1”. Augusta Purvis earned second place points in the triple jump. She also finished fourth in the long jump with teammate Rebecca Briggs finishing sixth.
On the track, Duzan crossed the finish line first in the 75-meter hurdles in a time of 15.18 seconds. Briggs was fifth in the race.
Courtney Jackson took third place in the 800-meter run Cali Holt earned fourth place in the 400-meter dash while Samara Brush was sixth in the 1,600-meter run.
The Lady Tigers’ relay squads finished third in the sprint medley and the 4x200 while earning sixth place in both the 4x100 and 4x400.
