Campus Bowl Squads Complete Perfect Week
Scotland Countyís Campus Bowl Varsity Squad remains undefeated in Tri-Rivers Conference play after sweeping their matches last week. The Tigers began the week by upending Clark County on Monday, 195-190, in a contest that was close all the way. Senior captain Julie Triplett led the team in toss-ups, answering eight, while fellow senior Loren Billington chipped in with four toss-ups to help defeat the Indians at Kahoka.
ďWe knew it would be a tight match. Those games can go either way and this time we were fortunate to come out on top,Ē said Tiger Campus Bowl coach Sam Berkowitz. The Tigers lost to Clark County the week before, losing in the championship game of the Scotland County Invitational Tournament, ďIf Clark and Scotland played 10 games, weíd probably split them and they would all be close,Ē added Berkowitz.
The Tigers continued their week by downing Milan, 185-70 in Memphis, Tuesday and by knocking off Brookfield on the road Thursday, 190-90. Triplett and Ben Wiley led the way against Milan, answering eight and five toss-ups respectively. Triplett answered nine toss-ups and Billington four to lead the squad in their victory over Brookfield.
Scotland Countyís victories last week improved their Tri-Rivers Conference record to 4-0 and 21-5 overall.
Meanwhile, the Junior High Campus Bowl team added to the successful week by knocking off Clark County in overtime, 115-95, upending Milan, 145-110, and turning away Brookfield, 145-60. Spencer Keller and Brock Bondurant led the way for the Tigers against the Indians, answering six and three toss-ups, with Bondurant getting two of his answers in the overtime period.
Kelly Lister and Keller were high toss-up answerers against Milan with four each. Against Brookfield, Keller led the team with six toss-ups while Jordan Fulk and Lister both had two to lead the team.
