SCR-I Teams Scrambling to Makeup Games Lost to Evacuations
It has been a tough winter for Scotland County Athletic Director Larry Hurley. In addition to the normal winter cancellations, SCR-I has run into some abnormal circumstances that have made fitting all of the Tigers and Lady Tigers basketball games in before district play in March a challenge.
Both varsity basketball teams will be in action on Saturday, February 10th at North Shelby to finally conclude the schools tournament.
The Lady Tigers will take on Marion County in the title tilt that originally had been scheduled for January 20th. That day, early in the girls third place contest, the school was evacuated after a fire was discovered in the school’s library.
The girls’ championship game will tip off at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
The boys title game, pitting Scotland County against Missouri’s second ranked team in Class 2, LaPlata will follow the girls first place contest.
The boys’ and girls’ third place games will be played following the championship matches.
The Scotland County Tigers will also be in action on Valentine’s Day. The boys’ will host Clark County in a game rescheduled from January 30th.
According to Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) rules, the game will restart with 5:36 seconds remaining in the second period with Clark County leading the Tri-Rivers Conference match up by a score of 16-15.
MSHSAA rules state that the game must continue at the point of interruption, with the same game officials and the same participants on the court.
The game was halted at point because of a bomb threat at the school.
