ESTALENE L. BARB
(10/25/1920 - 12/15/2007)



Estalene L. Barb, 87, of Memphis, MO, died December 15, 2007, at the Scotland County Hospital in Memphis, MO.

She was born October 25, 1920 in Scotland County, the daughter of Everett and Gladys Robinson.

She attended the Friendship School in rural Scotland County and Memphis High School.

Estalene was married to Rufus Barb on September 1, 1940 in Donnellson, IA. He preceded her in death. To this union two children were born, Richard Barb, who preceded her in death and Marilyn Young of Donnellson, IA, who survives.

Estalene held many jobs throughout her life. She worked for nine years at the Sheller-Globe Factory in Keokuk, IA. She also worked several years at the National Garment Factory in Memphis. She enjoyed traveling and worked as a travel agent organizing trips for seniors. She was last employed with the Division of Family Services in Memphis. She was an avid crafter and traveled to craft shows throughout the area and enjoyed meeting people at craft shows.

Estalene was baptized at the Little Zion Baptist Church. She later became a member of First Baptist Church of Memphis. She was an active member over the years and was involved with the churchís nursery and taught Sunday School. Estalene was involved in many community organizations. She was a Girl Scout troop leader. She also served on the Scotland County Nursing Home Board and held various board positions for the Hospital Nursing Home Auxiliary. She was also an active member of the Antique Fair in Memphis.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, two sisters, Nellie Baker and Helen Jeanne Robinson, and her son, Richard Barb.

She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Young and husband, Keith of Donnellson, IA; two granddaughters, Stephanie Tarter and husband, Brian of Keller, TX, and Sherri Ramos and husband, Sam of Houston, TX; one daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Barb of Columbia, MO; three granddaughters, Diane Braselton and husband, Fred, Teresa Magruder and husband, Michael, and Jennifer Barb, all of Columbia, MO; and one grandson, Daniel Barb and wife, Stephanie of Metamora, IL. Also surviving are 11 great-grandchildren, Emma, Grayson and Gage Tarter, Megan, Courtney and Josh Braselton, Madeline and Emily Magruder, Jacob Brannon, and Colton and Carson Barb, and one sister, Esther Baker of Memphis, MO.

Funeral services will be December 19, 2007, at the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO, with the Pastor Dan Hite and Rev. Ernest Deatrick officiating. Pallbearers were Daniel Barb, Fred Braselton, Josh Braselton, Michael Magruder, Brian Tarter, and Sam Ramos. Burial was in the Friendship Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Friendship Cemetery and the First Baptist Church. They can be mailed to Payne Funeral Chapel. Arrangements were under the direction of Payne Funeral Chapel of Memphis, MO.
