Gerald Stanley Doss, 74, of Edina, Missouri, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2007, at his residence near Edina, Missouri.

He was born on March 13, 1933, in Greensburg, Missouri, the son of Otho ďBillĒ and Lavon Pruett Doss.

Gerald grew up in the Greensburg, Missouri area before moving to the farm Northeast of Edina, Missouri. He attended the Glendale Rural School before graduating from the Edina High School in the Class of 1951.

Gerald served his country in the United States Army. He farmed the family farm his whole life and was also employed by the Burnham Manufacturing ďThe Glove FactoryĒ from 1961 until 1987, worked as a farm hand for Gelbach Farms near Hurdland, Missouri from 1988 to 1991 and was employed by the Knox County Stone Company from 1991 until his retirement in 2002.

On October 27, 1959, in Kirksville, Missouri, Gerald Married Evelyn Swann.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Evelyn Doss of Edina, Missouri; two sons, Randy and his wife Pam Doss of Edina, Missouri and Jeffrey and his wife Gail Doss of Edina, Missouri; a daughter, Stacey and her husband Doug Byrn of Downing, Missouri; two brothers, Earl and his wife Pat Doss of Yuma, Arizona and Larry and his wife Donna Doss of Heber, Arizona; two sisters; Joyce and her husband Tom Newkirk of Fresno, California and Janet and her husband Larry Smith of Waukee, Iowa; five grandchildren; Jason Doss of Novelty, Missouri, Andrea Doss of Edina, Missouri, Logan, MacKenzie and Kylie Byrn of Downing, Missouri; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, step father, Les Ladwig; and a son, Stanley Doss in 1987.

Funeral services will be Thursday, November 1, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.

Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 31, 2007, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Edina, Missouri.

Burial will be in the Linville Cemetery in Edina, Missouri.

An expression of sympathy in memory of Gerald Doss may be left to the Linville Cemetery Association or the familyís wishes. A memorial may be left at or mailed to the Doss Funeral Home 208 N. 4th Street, Edina, MO, 63537.
