Neva Verlee Stott Cain passed away early October 23, 2007, at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital in Memphis, MO.

Neva was born in Scotland County, MO, August 4, 1932, the daughter of Laurence and Opal Stott.

She was a longtime area resident of Memphis, MO, a homemaker, a member of the First Christian Church in Memphis, MO, involved with the OATS Bus as a volunteer, helped out anyone she could and was a friend to many.

Surviving relatives include her daughter, Susan McMurray and her husband, Keith of Oskaloosa, IA; three grandchildren, Keith Edward McMurray and Terry McMurray, both of Oskaloosa, IA, and Tonya Dage and her husband, Mark of Ottumwa, IA; six great-grandchildren, P.G. and Natasha Gideon, Collen Dage, Kelsey and Keith Jr. McMurray and Ethan Higginbottom; two brothers, Lavern Stott of Memphis, MO and Leland Stott and his wife, Marjorie of St. Charles, IA; aunts, nephews, nieces, and a host of relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Donald Stott.

Memorials may be made to the family of Susan McMurray and can be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison Street, Memphis, MO 63555.

Funeral services were held October 26, 2007, at the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis, MO, with Brother Jack Sumption officiating. Musician was Velva Freburg organist. Pallbearers were Mark Dage, Jason Moss, Bud Wilson, Robert Briggs, Kevin McMurray and Keith Edward McMurray. Interment was in the Prairie View Cemetery, Scotland County, MO. Arrangements were under the direction of the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO.
