DEAN DONALD DITTMER

Dean Donald Dittmer, 69, of Lancaster, MO, passed away at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, MO, on September 14, 2007.
The son of John Edward and Mary Gertrude (Schaeffer) Dittmer, he was born on May 25, 1938 in Warren County, Iowa.
Dean was a 1967 graduate of Northeast State Teachers College in Kirksville, MO. He retired from Texaco Oil Company as a marketing representative after serving 30 years with that company.
On October 1, 1966 at the Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Kirksville, MO, he was united in marriage to Donna Losey and to this union two daughters were born.
Dean is survived by his wife, Donna Dittmer of Lancaster, MO; one daughter, Catherine Peters and husband, David of Englewood, CO; one grandson, Samuel Ian Peters of Englewood, CO; one son-in-law, Felix Villarreal of Oxford, OH; sister, Viola Smith and husband, Tommy of Ankeny, IA; three brothers, Clarence Dittmer and wife, Beatrice of Jackson, MO; Herbert Dittmer and wife, Carole of Boone, IA, and Edward Dittmer and wife, Kay of Lake Lure, NC; other family members and many good friends.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Teri Schaeffer in 1995; eight brothers and four sisters.
Dean was a very active community man. He was involved in various organizations including Rotary, where he served as the treasurer for many years. Schuyler County Nutrition Site Board, Schuyler County Library Board and the Schuyler County Republican Party Committee. Dean enjoyed serving on the various boards wherever needed.
Dean was an active member of the St. Johnís Catholic Church in Memphis, MO.
A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Johnís Catholic Church in Memphis, MO, with Father Bill Kottenstette officiating. A celebration of Deanís life was September 18, 2007, at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, MO. Memorials have been established for the Schuyler County Library, Schuyler County Nutrition Site and Hospice of Northeast Missouri. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster, MO.
