Scott Allen Childress, 50, of Edina, Missouri passed away August 27, 2007, at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.
Scott was born March 6, 1957, in Gary, Indiana the son of Donald Dean and Geraldine Joan Inderski Childress.
On August 4, 1979, at Edina, Missouri he was united in marriage to Rebecca Lynn Parker.
Surviving are his wife Rebecca Lynn Childress of Edina, Missouri; two daughters, Courtney Lynn Bonnell and husband Sean of Columbia, Missouri, Lacey Marie Childress and her friend Wesley Hahn of Columbia, Missouri; two sisters Karen Miller and husband David Brown of Columbia, Missouri, Kathy Prater and husband Ron of Springfield, Missouri; four brothers, Bruce Childress and wife Jeannie, Brian Childress and wife Diana of Memphis, Missouri, Gary Childress and wife Barbee of Greentop, Missouri, and Chris Childress and wife Mandy of Pilot Grove, Missouri; three step-brothers and three step-sisters, a stepmother, Sandy Childress of Memphis, Missouri; four sisters-in-law, Kathryn Eggers and husband Gary of Overland Park, Kansas, Martha Cochran and husband Jim of Hutchinson, Kansas, Tamara Nance of Tampa, Florida, and Teresa McDonald and husband Ken of Belton, Missouri; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, and four special Theta Chi Fraternity brothers.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, two nephews and one niece.
Scott spent his earlier years in Lowell, Indiana and moved with his family to Missouri in 1969. He graduated from Scotland County High School, Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri, and was a graduate of the School of Banking at Madison, Wisconsin. Scott was employed with the Production Credit Association in Edina, Missouri for nine years and was presently President of the Citizens Bank of Edina where he has been employed for 19 years.
Scott was a member and past president of Knox County Rotary Club, board member of Town and Country Bank of LaBelle, Missouri, Warsaw and Quincy, Illinois, member of the finance committee of St. Joseph Parish Council, and a member of the Missouri Bankers Association. Scott was a 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus member of Edina Council # 846 and a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus member of the John F. Kennedy Association. Scott was also a member of the Theta Chi fraternity in Warrensburg, Missouri.
Scott was an Eagle Scout; he loved the outdoors especially hunting, fishing and farming, loved playing golf and spending time with his family and friends.
A Funeral Mass was held Friday August 31, 2007, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edina, Missouri. The Reverend Father Bill Kottenstette officiated the services. Music was provided by Jim and Kyle Clark. Burial was in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Edina, Missouri.
Casket bearers were Jim Gibbons, Ray Griffith, Doug Mayer, Bill Alberty, David Brown, Tom Deveny, Don McCurren, and Darrell Hettinger.
Honorary bearers were Mark Williams, Wally Trosen, Rick Schaefer, Ron Winkler, Dennis Markeson, Tom Kent and Rick Riley.
A Christian wake service was held August 30, 2007, in the chapel.
