Pauline Carter, 97, of Lancaster, MO, passed away July 6, 2007, at the Schuyler County Nursing Home in Queen City, MO, where she had been a resident since November 3, 2002.
The daughter of Greene and Carrie M. (Riley) Carter, she was born January 21, 1910 in rural Schuyler County, MO.
Survivors include her sister, Helen Laurence of Bly, OR; several nieces and nephews including Noel Barker and wife, Ann of Granger, MO and Lee Barker and wife, Judy of Florissant, MO; great-nieces and nephews and other family members.
Preceding her in death include her parents; one twin brother, Jesse Carter; one sister, Ruth C. Barker in January 27, 2001; and one nephew, Leo Barker in August 1997.
Pauline and her mother, Carrie were well known seamstresses for more than 50 years in Glenwood, MO, where she made her home. She was also a part time employee of the Glenwood Post office. Later she moved to the Lancaster Senior Housing in Lancaster, MO. Because of health reasons, she became a resident of the Schuyler County Nursing Home in Queen City, MO in 2002.
She was a member of the Lancaster Christian Church in Lancaster, MO, and was also a member of the Schuyler County Historical Society.
Graveside services were held July 9, 2007, at the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, MO with Steve Altheide, pastor of the Lancaster Christian Church officiating. Memorials have been established for the Schuyler County Nutrition Site. Burial was in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, MO. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster, MO.
