Epsilon Iota to Host 26th Annual Christmas Bazaar
The 26th annual Christmas Bazaar, sponsored by Epsilon Iota Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi of Memphis, will be held Saturday, December 1st at the Scotland County High School, 8:30 a.m. Ė 3:30 p.m. Over 140 tables have been reserved by craft exhibitors from Iowa, Illinois and Missouri. Free admission.
The sorority will sponsor a food stand all day. Doughnuts and coffee will be available in the morning. Lunch will consist of hot dogs, chilidogs, ham sandwiches, chili, chips, pie, cake, tea, milk, coffee and soft drinks.
There will be new exhibitors this year and a lot of new items for you to see, come out, do your shopping, eat your lunch and enjoy the day.
Over the years a variety of merchandise has been exhibited and sold and this year is no exception. There will be wood crafts, clothing, crocheted items, doll clothes, toys, books, jewelry, candies, cookies, holiday decorations, ceramics, glassware, rugs, kettle korn, antler art, metal crafts, elk jerky, scrap booking, candles, novelty purses, books with authors to autograph, (Pepsi memorabilia, Watkins, Tupperware, Avon, Discovery Toys, Pampered Chef, Jafra Cosmetics, Stanley Ė home products and Fuller Brush products, and At Home American-home dťcor).
Proceeds from the bazaar go for community betterment: five $300 ($1500) scholarships were given to five seniors: Loren Billington, Kelsey Caldwell, Loren Grogan, Hannah Kiddoo and Matt Wickert; $450 helping families in the community; senior boysí breakfast; three dictionaries for spelling bee, winners were over all winner Thomas Shannan, runner-up Brook Bondurant and Maddie Brassfield pre-second grade winner, each one was presented with a dictionary, $100 Scotland County R-I Read-a-Ton, $99 to participate in Scripps National Spelling Bee, $100 Community Players Lincoln Days, $50 Gorin School R-3, $500 Memphis Swimming Pool, Small pool side tables and baby changing table,
$250 Scotland County Nutrition Center, $25 Alpha Epsilon Sigma Halloween Party, $25 Scotland County Care Center for birthday party, $100 St. Johnís Thanksgiving Dinner, $100 Scotland County R-I Read-a-Thon, $250 pledge to Restoration of Courthouse Clock, $42 Art Club for door decorations for Care Center.
$50 Salvation Army, $100 each $300 to FBLA, FFA, and Alpha Epsilon Sigma sorority for helping at the bazaar; $100 Santaís helpers and will soon be delivering poinsettias to several people in the community. In May they will be donating nonperishable food items for the food pantry.
Santa will be present from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for pictures and a babysitting service will be provided again this year by the FBLA, there is a fee charged for these two services. The FBLA will also be available to help exhibitors load and unload.
There will be a ball game on Friday evening this year, so setup will be after 10:00 p.m. Doors will be closed until then. Saturday morning doors open at 6:30 a.m.
There will be a childrenís matinee again this year at the Memphis Theatre. Doors open at 1:00 p.m. with a movie at 1:30 p.m. Price of admission will be a nonperishable food item for the food pantry.
