Highway Patrol Works Overtime on Local Roads
Captain John W. Elliott, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the results of Selective Traffic Enforcement Operations conducted in the Troop B area during the month of September 2007.
The goal of the additional traffic enforcement operations is to detect hazardous moving violations and other traffic violations that contribute to traffic crashes.
On September 7, 2007, four troopers focused their attention on highways located in Schuyler and Scotland counties. During the four-hour enforcement operation, officers made three arrests and issued 27 warnings. Of those arrests, one individual was cited for a driverís license violation, one was cited for an insurance violation, and one individual was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant.
On September 8, 2007, four troopers focused their attention on highways located in Knox County. During this four-hour enforcement operation, officers made two arrests and issued 22 warnings. Of those arrests, one individual was arrested for driving while intoxicated, and one individual was cited for a hazardous moving violation.
On September 29, 2007, four troopers focused their attention on highways located in Shelby County. During this eight-hour enforcement operation, officers made seven arrests and issued 42 warnings. Of those arrests, four individuals were arrested for driving while intoxicated, one was cited for speeding, and two were cited for non-moving violations.
ďSpecial enforcement operations are important in reducing traffic crashes,Ē stated Captain Elliott. ďI would like to encourage all motorists to help us in reducing the number of traffic crashes in Missouri by focusing on good driving habits.Ē
