USDA To Host Field Day Tour In Memphis
The Memphis Office of the United States Department of Agriculture will host a Conservation Field Day Tour on Wednesday, August 8th in Scotland County.
The event will feature a number of programs and farm visits throughout the day.
Guests will meet at the Memphis field office beginning at 8:30 a.m. with the tour set to depart at 9:00 a.m.
The first stops will be in Kilwinning where participants will view pasture improvements at the Myers Bros. Farm as well as an example of critical area seeding at the Roy Holton farm.
The next stop at 10:30 a.m. will be the Max Snowbarger farm for an example of spring development.
The tour group will return to Memphis at 11:30 a.m. for lunch at the Scotland County Rec Plex.
The second half of the program will start at 1:00 p.m. with a visit to the farm of Raymond Zimmerman, Jr. to view a wind turbine.
The intensive grazing system of Donald Nelson will be on display at 2:30 p.m.
The final stop will be at the Frank Seaver Farm for a program on alternative watering sources and well decommissioning.
