Kansas Teen Recaptured After Escape From Law Officers
A Kansas teenager led local law enforcement agents on a pair of chases before ultimately being arrested on felony charges on July 2nd.
Anthony M. Koehlhoeffer, 17, was picked up by the Memphis Police Department at 11:02 p.m. on July 1st at his apartment at 501 N. Maple Street. He was arrested and taken into custody on charges of class B felony child molestation.
The arrest was made after a complaint was filed by a 13-year-old female alleging Koehlhoeffer had subjected her to forcible sexual contact.
The suspect was transported to the Scotland County Sheriffís Department, but while he was being booked, he escaped and fled the courthouse on foot.
Officers from the police department, sheriffís department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol began a search for the fugitive.
Koehlhoeffer returned to his residence at approximately 2:30 a.m. and again attempted to flee the authorities. He allegedly jumped out a bedroom window of the apartment armed with a hunting knife. He was apprehended several blocks away at 2:34 a.m.
He was taken to Scotland County Jail where he is being held.
Koehlhoeffer has been charged with one count of class B felony child molestation, one count of class A misdemeanor child molestation, one count of class C felony assault of a law officer, and one count of class D felony escape from custody.
