Search Continues For New Care Center Administrator
The search is continuing for a new administrator for the Scotland County Care Center. Board of directors president, Mitch Jayne was named interim administrator following the resignation of former leader Kathy Smith.
Jayne was issued a temporary emergency license at SCCC that is effective April 16 through July 15.
“The board intends to have a qualified licensed nursing home administrator on site prior to July 15th,” Jayne stated. “We are depending on our experienced and caring staff to continue to provide quality care in the interim.”
Board members Kathy Miller, Sally Ebeling and Tom Deberry have been assigned to a committee to review applications. Currently the board has six applicants being considered for the position.
“Your board of directors is actively involved in the hiring process as well as in the day-to-day management of the facility,” Jayne said. “And they will remain so, until a new administrator is in place. Rest assured, resident care will not be diminished and business here at the Care Center and Terrace will proceed as usual.”
The board of directors consists of Jayne, Miller, Ebeling, Deberry, Doug Robinson and Glen Lister.
If the nursing home is unable to hire a new administrator during the 90-day window of the temporary emergency license, Jayne possibly could be approved for one additional 90-day extension. However he stated that would be highly unlikely.
