Memphis Family Injured In Crash On Highway 61
Three members of a Memphis family were injured in a two-car crash on Highway 61 on Friday, February 16th. The accident occurred at 7:15 p.m. two miles south of Wayland.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Rayann P. Brown, 43, of Memphis was driving a 1990 Acura northbound on Highway 61 when the vehicle slid out of control into the southbound lane where it struck a southbound vehicle head on.
The southbound vehicle was a 2003 Toyota driven by Anne L. Allen, 55, of Oelwein, IA.
Allen’s husband, William F. Allen, 58, suffered minor injuries. He was to seek his own treatment.
Three passengers in the Brown car also suffered minor injuries. James C. Brown, 9, Anna R. Brown, 7, and Bromley R. Brown, 5, children of the driver, were all transported by Clark County Ambulance to Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA.
Brown was cited for failure to drive on the right half of the roadway.
Brown’s vehicle sustained total damage while the Allen vehicle was listed with extensive damage. Both automobiles were towed from the scene.
The highway patrol indicated that all occupants of the vehicles were wearing safety devices at the time of the crash.
