Late Lady Tigers Rally Falls Short
It was too little too late as the SCR-I Lady Tigers did not break double digits in scoring in any single quarter until the final eight minutes of the game in a 40-34 defeat in the third place game of the Novinger Tourney on December 2nd.
A solid defensive performance helped the Lady Tigers lead 8-7 after the game’s first eight minutes. But Brashear came alive in period two while Scotland County continued to struggle to put points on the board.
A 20-14 bulge at the break grew to 34-21 as Brashear outscored Scotland County 14-7 in the third quarter.
Jessica Bair and Melissa Cotton each had a pair of baskets in the final quarter as SCR-I made a late rally. But a 13-6 run to close the contest wasn’t enough as Brashear prevailed 40-34.
Cotton had 11 points to lead Scotland County. Bair and Kirsten Johnston each finished with six points as the Lady Tigers dropped to 1-3 on the year.
