Five Tigers Honored By Tri-Rivers Conference Football Coaches

Five Scotland County football players were honored by the coaches of the Tri-Rivers Conference last week when the league released its picks for post-season awards.

Marcus Shalley was an all-conference first team selection for Scotland County. He earned the honor at defensive back after amassing 86 tackles three interceptions and two fumble recoveries.

Grant Blomme was the lone other first team selection at receiver. He led the Tigers with 39 catches for 556 yards and four touchdowns.

Some of those passing totals helped Shalley earn second team all-conference honors at quarterback. The senior completed 87 of 200 pass attempts for 1,025 yards and seven touchdowns while being intercepted just five times. Shalley also ran the ball a team-high 10 times for 683 yards and 10 TDs.

Shalley was also honored as a second team pick as a kick return specialist, averaging 25.35 yards per return including one touchdown runback.

Grant Blomme earned honorable mention as a defensive back. He had a team-high four interceptions and also amassed 77 tackles on the year.

Casey Parrish was also recognized on both sides of the ball. He and teammate Lance Smith earned honorable mention honors on the offensive line. Parrish was named honorable mention on defense as well as at the linebacker spot where he made 63 tackles despite missing a pair of games with a knee injury.

Bryce Blomme received honorable mention at receiver after a season that saw him catch 24 passes for 293 yards and a TD despite shuffling back and forth between receiver and running back due to injuries.

Conference champion Brookfield took home the leagues top honors. Shane Cavanah was named coach of the year while Brookfields Lambert, a first team selection at running back and linebacker and a second team kicker, was named the leagues most valuable player.

Lambert was joined in the backfield on the first team by fellow unanimous selection Nathan Valentine of Putnam County along with Milan running back Matt Hill. Clark Countys Brock Egley was named the first team quarterback.

Grant Blomme and Jesse Lorigan of Clark County were the first team receivers joined by tight end David Fowler of Putnam County.

Top offensive lineman honors went to Tyler Gordon of Brookfield, Cori Seth of Clark County and Darien Valentine of Putnam County, all unanimous selections. Also on the first team were Nick Roush of Brookfield and Cory Bennett of Milan.

The first team defensive line consisted of Brookfields defensive tackles James Zunbrunnen (unanimous pick) and Brad Gardner as well as Darien Valentine of Putnam County. Defensive ends were Dustin White of Brookfield and Fowler from P.C.

The top linebackers in the league were Lambert, Nathan Valentine, the Clark County tandem of Calem Lipper and Brad Ferrel and Milans Jacob Rex.

Joining Shalley in the defensive backfield were Colby Bailey of Brookfield and Javis Vineyard of Clark County.

Ryan Roberts of Clark County was the first team kicker. Schuyler Countys Tyler Green was the top kick return specialist while Bryan Severa of Brookfield and Dustin Magney of Milan shared the top award for punters.
