Timber Ridge Golf Course’s Ladies Day Draws Big Crowd
The annual ladies day at Timber Ridge Golf Course on July 7th packed the clubhouse to near capacity and created a complete field for the four-woman scramble golf tourney.
A total of 15 teams took part in the 18-hole event with 60 golfers competing for prize money and numerous gifts.
The team of Shirey and Flanagan from Canton took home the top honors, winning the championship flight with a score of 59. There was a tie for second place between the team captained by Lori Rader and Donna Hyde and the team of Janet Bolick, Keri Hinds, Arlys Grant and Denise Smith. Both teams finished with a score of 66 but second place went to the Rader team with a tie breaker on hole #9.
There was a three-way tie for first place in the A Flight with a trio of teams completing the day with scores of 68. The team captained by Slaughter and See took home first place prize money courtesy of a birdie on hole #7 that was used as the tie breaker. The team led by Riney and Harvey earned second place in the tie breaker with a birdie on hole #1. Third place went to the team of Bogart and Grant.
Top prize in the B flight went to the team led by Foster and Lewis with a score of 70. Second place with a 71 was the team of Mary Ann Robertson, Angela Newman, Karri Feeney and Crystal Riebel. Third place went to the team of Burton and Linkelman with a round of 73.
Many of the club’s social members gathered in the Timber Ridge clubhouse during the tournament for card games. First place in the pitch tourney went to Pearlanna Robinson. Aloha Coffrin finished second with Joann Ferguson in third.
Clara Mikels of Bloomfield, IA won the bridge contest. Margaret Grant won second and Cindy Shaffer was third.
