Junior High Girls Complete Successful 2006 Track Season
The Scotland County R-I junior high girls track team completed the 2006 season with one second place finish to go along with three fourth place performances.
The Lady Tigers top showing came April 20 at the Knox County relays where they finished as the runners-up. SCR-I was fourth at the Davis County relays the following day and also finished fourth at the Clark County relays on April 24th and the home meet on May 1st. Team scores were not available from the April 13th Putnam County Relays.
Ashley Tague won the 1,600-meter run and was third in the high jump at the season opener in Unionville. At the Knox County Relays she took top honors in the 800-meter run and the high jump. She finished second in the 1,500-meter run and the high jump at Davis County and was fourth in the 1,600-meter run and fifth in the high jump at Clark County before finishing third in both events as well as sixth in the 200-meter dash in Memphis on May 1st.
Anna Duley brought home second place in the 800-meter run from Putnam County. She won first in the long jump at Knox County and finished second in the 1,600-meter run. Duley was second in the 800-meter run and fourth in the long jump at Kahoka before taking first in the 1,600-meter run and sixth in the long jump at the home meet.
Katie Miller, Ti Waibel and Shelby Westhoff performed well in the shot put and discus for the Lady Tigers. Miller was second in the discus at Putnam County and won first at Edina where Waibel took third in the shot put. Miller earned second place in the shot put at Davis County and was fourth in the discus, while Waibel switched over to the track and took fifth in the 200-meter hurdles. Miller was third in both throwing events at the Clark County Relays where Waibel was fourth in the shot put and teammate Shelby Westhoff was fourth in the discus. Miller topped off her season with a first place finish in the discus at SCR-I. She finished third in the shot put while Westhoff was fourth in the discus.
Augusta Purvis handled the triple jump duties for the Lady Tigers and had her best performance at the Clark County Relays where she was second with a jump of 26’4.75’. Purvis also took third place in the 800-meter run at the SCR-I Relays and was fourth in the 400-meter dash at Edina.
Becca Briggs was a top performer in the hurdles, winning first place at Knox County.
Other first place finishes on the year included a top effort by the 4x400-meter relay team of Duley, Tague, Skyler Alderton and Ivy Hauk at the Knox County Relays.
Jessica Sites ran the 800-meter event for SCR-I and took fifth at Davis County and SCR-I. She also ran on ribbon-winning teams in the1,600-meter relay.
The 4x100-meter team of MacKenzie Byrn, Hauk, Alderton and Tague was fourth in Edina.
Brittney Youmans, Andrea Middleton, Purvis and Stephanie Yarbrough finished fifth in the 4x200 meter relay at Knox County while Samara Brush, Purvis, Melanie Triplett and Yarbrough combined for a third place run in the 4x800-meter relay at Davis County.
Catie Shalley, Triplett, Brush and Youmans finished sixth in the sprint medley at the Putnam County Relays.
