Fromm Named Co-MVP, Joined By Four Lady Tigers On All-Conference Teams

A successful 2005-06 basketball season was capped off for the Scotland County girls basketball program when five players were honored on the Tri-Rivers All-Conference list. After finishing 5-2 in league play, SCR-I was honored by the conference coaches with five spots on the post-season honor roll.

That list was headed by senior Ali Fromm who split the league’s most valuable player award with Clark County’s Courtney Shuman, a junior. Fromm led Scotland County scoring 16.3 points per game. She also shot a team best 46.2 percent from the field. Fromm was among the league leaders in three pointers, sinking 50 of 119 attempts from behind the arc. Her 79.8% free-throw accuracy was also a team best.

Joining that talented duo on the all conference first team was the lone other unanimous selection, sophomore Tahnee Poe of Schuyler County. Rounding out the first team were Trisha Bohle, a senior from Milan and Brittany Harrington, a senior from Brookfield.

Two Lady Tigers were named to the Second Team. Senior Jamie Fuller scored 8.3 points a night and grabbed 4.5 rebounds. She recorded a team-high 84 assists and was also tops on the squad with 11 blocks. Joining her was fellow senior Angie Bulen. The post player was second on the Scotland County team with 8.8 points per game. She led the squad with 8.5 rebounds a night and also had a team-high 99 free-throw attempts.

Also making the second team were:

Samantha Shaw, a senior from Milan; Stephanie Hicks, a senior from Knox County; Brady Logsdon, Ashley Wallingford and Lisa Weaver, seniors from Clark County; Dalyn Collins, a sophomore from Brookfield; Haley Caldwell, a senior from North Shelby; Brittany Casady, a sophomore from Putnam County; Nicole Winkler, a junior from Schuyler County; Katie Steele, a freshman from Putnam County; and Tara Verkuilen, a sophomore from Schuyler County.

Two Lady Tigers received honorable mention honors. Senior Ashley Frederick averaged 4.9 points per game while running the team from the point guard position. Sophomore Kirsten Johnston gave the team instant offense off the bench to the tune of 6.7 points a night.

Brookfield’s Katie Sensenich (junior) Amber Olinger (junior) and Kellie Alexander (sophomore); North Shelby’s Randi Wiley (senior) and Alison Peoples (senior); Clark County’s Amanda Winter (sophomore), Kate Moon (senior), Daryle Goldie (sophomore), Brittany Logsdon (sophomore) and Kassidy Shuman (sophomore); Schuyler County’s Jackie Roberts (sophomore), Alison Burt (senior) and Tensel Sandker (junior); Putnam County’s Shayna Schoonover (senior), Jessica Steele (senior) and Hilary Mason (freshman); Knox County’s Nicole Harrison (senior) ; and Milan’s Whitley Schnelle (junior) and Brooke Bankus (junior).
