Four Tigers Earn Basketball All-Conference Honors
Four Scotland County basketball players were honored by league coaches, earning spots on the Tri-Rivers All-Conference Teams that were announced last week.
Brandon Thomas of Putnam County was named as the league’s most valuable player. He was joined as unanimous selections by fellow Putnam County senior Tyson Alexander and Brookfield senior Brent Paahlar. Rounding out the first team were seniors Cody Protsman of Clark County and Chris Perry of North Shelby.
Cody Musgrove, a sophomore from Scotland County earned second-team honors. He averaged 9.8 points per game, tied for the team lead, while grabbing a team best 8.7 rebounds a night. He also led SCR-I with 37 blocked shots and 69.4 percent free throw accuracy.
Also named to the second team were:
Dennis Dent, a freshman from Knox County; Carrington Daniel, a junior from Clark County; Brett Craigmyle (senior) and Justin Bevill (junior from North Shelby; Dave Fowler a junior from Putnam County; Richard Brosemer and Luke Speichinger, seniors from Brookfield; and Jake Fowler (senior) and Jacob Winkler (freshman) from Schuyler County.
Earning honorable mention in the all-conference voting were juniors Matt Wickert and Bryce Blomme and Chris Humes. Humes, a senior, led the Tigers with a 48.9 field goal percentage. He averaged 6.1 points and 5.3 rebounds a game. Blomme tied Musgrove for the team lead with a 9.8 scoring average. He led the Tigers with 79 assists and also was tops on the squad with 62 steals. Wickert scored at a 9.3 clip per game. He was tops on the team with 96 free-throw attempts. He grabbed 4.1 rebounds a contest and was second on the team in steals (46) and assists (59).
