Pepsi Signs Deal For Speedway Naming Rights
The Memphis, MO racetrack will be known as Pepsi Scotland County Speedway. Mike Johnson and the Memphis Bottling Company signed a three-year agreement with the Staley’s, promoters. He also, signed a one-year agreement to be the track title sponsor at the Bloomfield, IA Speedway. The track will be known as the Mt. Dew Bloomfield Speedway.
Weather permitting, Wednesday, March 22 will be a Test ‘N’ Tune for the drivers. The season will open with a bang on Thursday, March 23, with a three-day special, the Spring Nationals, paying out major dollars and attracting a big field of cars. April 1 the O’Reilly Auto Parts United States Modified Touring Series will be making the first of three visits to the speedway. The official season opener will be Saturday, April 15. An ambitious schedule is planned for 2006. In addition to the USMTS races there will be five late model specials including the O’Reilly Auto Parts MLRA Series Race, Saturday, August 12. There will be a Stock Car Shootout and two nights of racing at the Scotland County Fair. One night will feature the Sprint Invader Series and the 305 Sprints. October 12-14 will be the Second Annual Memphis Fall Nationals. The season will conclude October 27-28 with the Pepsi-Mt. Dew Mid America Nationals featuring the O’Reilly USMTS.
Mr. Brian Burnam and Keith’s Foods in Bloomfield, IA, has signed on to be the Late Model Class Sponsor for both the Memphis and Bloomfield Speedways. Toni Dunker of Farm Marketing, Quincy has signed on to be the B-Modified Class Sponsor and Bentz GM Country, Kahoka will be the Modified Class Sponsor. The track will be sanctioned by the Casey’s General Stores United States Racing Association.
“I am grateful to all of our wonderful car owners, drivers, sponsors, fans and track workers. This is a wonderful combination, which will make for great racing and the best season yet,” stated Ed Sheckler, Marketing/Public Relations. The following classes will be racing weekly, Modifieds, Stock Cars, B-Mods, Hobby Stocks, Outlaw Hobby Stocks and Hornets. A schedule will be released shortly once sponsor nights have been finalized. Drivers will be competing for USRA points Fridays at Bloomfield and Saturdays at Memphis.
