League Win Eludes Tigers In Final Seconds of Overtime Loss

Scotland County saw its chance to leap frog up the Tri-Rivers Conference slip away in the final seconds as Clark County came from behind to take a 61-59 victory over the Tigers in overtime on January 31st in Kahoka.

The Tigers looked destined to remain winless in the conference as Clark County built a 28-16 advantage at halftime. SCR-I trailed just 9-7 after the first eight minutes before being outscored 19-9 in the second period.

But the Tigers looked like a different team to start the third period. Bryce Blomme scored seven straight points to open the second half. Matt Wickert drilled a three pointer to complete a 10-2 SCR-I run that had the Tigers within four points.

Clark County responded and extended the lead back to double digits before Blomme hit two more three pointers. A bucket by Cody Musgrove made the score 42-35 heading into the final eight minutes.

Grant Blomme got into the act in the fourth quarter. He hit back-to-back three pointers and brought his team to within two points, scoring on an offensive rebound with 3:30 left to play to make the score 44-42.

But Grant Blomme sent the game into overtime when he scored in the paint with less than a second to play to tie the game at 50-50.

Scotland County looked poised to pull off the upset as the Tigers jumped out to a 55-51 lead halfway through the extra four minutes of play.
