Putnam County Pounds Tigers 58-32 In League Loss
A big second-period run blew open a close contest on January 28th in Unionville as the hosts, Putnam County rolled on to a 58-32 victory over Scotland County.
Bryce Blomme had five first period points as the Tigers stayed right with the Midgets, the #7 ranked team in Missouri Class 3 basketball. The two teams played to a 9-9 tie in the first eight minutes.
But the Midgets exploded for 17 points in the second period to pull ahead 26-18 at halftime.
Brandon Thomas scored 10 of his game-high 15 points during a key stretch in the third period when Putnam County blew the game open to lead 45-26 with just eight minutes left to play.
Tyson Alexander drilled a pair of three pointers in the fourth period to prevent any SCR-I rally.
Blomme led Scotland County with nine points. Cody Musgrove finished with eight points and Chris Humes had six in the loss. SCR-I fell to 4-12 and 0-2 in league play. The Midgets remain in the driver’s seat in the Tri-Rivers Conference with a 3-0 mark and are 14-2 overall on the year.
