SCR-I Runs Into Conference Foes At Redette Relays
Traditionally the track season gets off to an early start north of the border as the Scotland County teams generally get their feet wet at two or three events in Iowa before coming home to face local competition.
That was partly the case April 6 as SCR-I traveled to Centerville for the Redette Relays. However, the Lady Tigers got a preview of the tough Tri-Rivers Conference competition, as three of the top four finishers were from the Missouri league, including SCR-I.
Clark County took top honors with a score of 99 followed by fellow league member Putnam County with 97 points. Central Decatur was the lone Iowa school in the top four, finishing just one point ahead of Scotland County with 65 points.
Ali Fromm led the Scotland County scoring as she took first place in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1 minute 17.39 seconds. The senior sprinter also finished second in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.32 seconds.
Kirsten Johnston finished second in the 400-meter dash in a time of 1 minute 5.1 seconds. Ciera Turner was fifth in the event.
Melissa Cotton earned second place in the high jump event as she cleared 4’10”. The freshman also took fourth place in the 1,500-meter run.
Angie Bulen finished sixth in the discus with a throw of 80’4”.
The rest of the team’s points came in the relay events.

The distance medley relay team finished fourth. The squad consisted of Turner, Jessica Bair, Andrea Shelley and Cotton.
Shelley, Bair, Tara Matlock and Valerie Oldham combined to take fourth place in the 4x200 meter relay.
The 4x100 meter relay team and the 4x400 meter relay teams also contributed fourth place performances. The sprint team consisted of Kaycee Paul, Betsey Kittle, Kirstan Kaldenberg and Ashlie Cooper while the 4x400 squad was made up by Fromm, Matlock, Bair and Johnston.
