MILDRED VERLEE WILSON
(9/15/1923 – 7/26/2006)
Mildred Verlee (Swearingen) Wilson, 82, lifelong resident of Scotland County, MO, went home to be with the Lord, July 26, 2006.
She resided at Scotland County Care Center, Memphis, MO, for the past nine months.
First of seven children, the daughter of Elza and Mary (Shultz) Swearingen, Mildred was born September 15, 1923, at the Swearingen homestead near Greensburg, MO.
On April 11, 1942, Mildred was united in marriage to Buford Charles Wilson, only days before Buford was sent overseas for four years in the service of his country, and to that union one son was born.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers, one sister, and two nephews.
She is survived by one son, Buddie Charles and wife, Brenda Wilson of Memphis, MO; one grandson, Shane Charles and wife, April Wilson of Fulton, MO; one granddaughter, Pashia Denise and husband, Kevin Groom of Pensacola, FL; one great-grandson, Ian Charles Wilson of Fulton, MO; two great-granddaughters, Hadley Loren and Calloway Delaney Groom of Pensacola, FL; two brothers, Dorsey (Ike) Swearingen of Bible Grove, MO and Henry (Rick) Swearingen of Springfield, IL; and one sister, Norma (Dolly) Kigar of Bible Grove, MO; several nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as many cousins.
Mildred was a member of the First Christian Church of Memphis, MO.
The family has suggested memorials to the First Christian Church of Memphis, MO or donors choice, and may be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison, Memphis, MO 63555.
Funeral services were held July 29, 2006, at the Payne Funeral Chapel, in Memphis, MO, with Brother Jack Sumption and Pastor Dan Hite officiating. Pallbearers were Bud Wilson, Shane Wilson, Jim Kigar, Chuck Kigar, Dorsey Swearingen, and Dustin Swearingen. Interment was in the Memphis Cemetery, Memphis, MO,
