(8/10/1926 - 12/12/2006)

Glen Dale Oliver, 80, of Burlington, Iowa, died December 12, 2006 at his home.

Born August 10, 1926 in Memphis, Missouri, he was the son of Adelbert Fi and Mary Louise (Gower) Oliver.

Glen served his country during World War II in the South Pacific as a military policeman. He married Mary Lou Harris on December 28th, 1951. He worked for Champion Spark Plugs for 30 years and delivered meals (and jokes) on a daily basis through Meals on Wheels for several years later in life.

Glen had a great sense of humor and quick wit. He enjoyed life, loved the farm, taking care of animals, gardening and reading. He also loved taking trips in the family’s bus camper and fishing with his sons.

His 80 years of life were filled with the laughter of his wife, five children, ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, other family members and many, many friends. He is survived by his wife, daughters Mary Pamela Johnson and Marketa Sue George Oliver; and sons Sammuel Len Oliver, David Mitchell Oliver and Jonathan Dale Oliver, who will all miss him greatly. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.

A memorial service was held December 16th at the Moose Lodge in Burlington.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
