MYRON L. SHEPARD

Myron L. Shepard, 85, of Kirksville, MO, passed away November 13, 2006, at the Kirksville Manor Care Center, in Kirksville, MO.
Myron was born on April 8, 1921, in Hurdland, MO, the son of William J. and Pauline Alma (Thurston) Shepard.
On April 29, 1941, in Edina, MO, he was united in marriage to Marguerite Christopher, who survives.
In addition to his wife, Myron is survived by two sons, Michael Shepard of Kirksville, MO, and Dr. M. Eric Shepard and wife, Linda of Carson City, MI; six grandchildren, Stephen Shepard, Stacey Shepard, Matthew Shepard, Erica Speis, Michael Shepard, and Christopher Shepard; three great-grandchildren, Tyler and Ryan Shepard and Jackson Speis; and a daughter-in-law, Gail Shepard of Shawnee, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, J. Patrick Shepard; one brother, Merle Shepard; and one sister, Mary Louise McCarty.
Myron was raised in the Hurdland area and attended the Hurdland schools, graduating from the Hurdland High School. Myron was very interested in having a baseball team in Hurdland and coached for several years. In 1957 he and his wife moved to Memphis, MO. He was employed with the Missouri Highway Department and was assigned to the Hannibal District Office until his retirement in 1985. While in Memphis he enjoyed restoring old homes and also built three new homes. In 2003 Myron and his wife decided to make their home in Kirksville, MO.
He was a member of the Mary Immaculate Catholic Church and a former member of the Kirksville Moose Lodge.
Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home was in charge of the services.
