KATHERYN ELIZABETH LAUE
(8/25/1946 – 9/8/2006)

Katheryn Elizabeth Laue, age 60 of Pleasant Grove, died September 8, 2006 at her mother-in-law’s home in Burlington, IA, following a battle with cancer.

The daughter of Oral Blaine and Marjorie (Ayer) Laws, she was born August 25, 1946 at Downing, MO.

On October 31, 1964 she married George A. McLain at Stronghurst, IL. On May 17, 1997 she married Steven D. Laue at Pleasant Grove, IA. She was a graduate of the Media High School, class of 1964. She recived her LPN degree from Southeastern Community College. She worked as a nurse’s aide and factory worker, including at the PRP in Mediapolis since 1998. She was a member of the Stronghurst Christian Church and the Shinar Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Paddle Wheelers CB Club and enjoyed quilting, clowning in parades, and attending flea markets.

Survivors include: her husband of Pleasant Grove, IA; two sons, Mike McLain of Lake Zurich, IL; Richard McLain of New London, IA; one daughter, Laura McCain of Burlington, IA; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Leslie Laws of San Antonio, TX, and Blaine Laws of Montrose, IA; 6 stepchildren; Laura Laue, Jonathan Laue, Beth Laue, Elaine Vaughn, Cari Jo Laue, and Matthew Laue; and four step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

The funeral service will be held Saturday September 16, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis with Rev. Brad Hansen officiating. Interment will follow at the Shinar Church Cemetery. Following the graveside service, a meal will be served at Pleasant Grove.

Friends may call on Friday, September 15, from noon until 6:00 p.m. at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home, where the family will meet with friends on Saturday from 9:30 until the service time. A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice.
