ELMA IRENE HYDE
(8/24/1937 – 9/6/2006)
Elma Irene Hyde, 69, of Arbela, MO, passed away on September 6, 2006, at Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, MO.
Irene was born the daughter of Emerald Glen and Rebecca Anne (Aldridge) Garrison on August 24, 1937, in Baring, MO.
Irene attended grade school in Knox and Scotland County, MO, and graduated from Granger High School, Granger, MO.
Irene married Gary Wayne Hyde on February 7, 1959, and to this union two children were born, Gary Leon and LaNell. Irene and Gary lived in Arbela, for 47 years.
Irene was a member of the Arbela Methodist Church of Arbela, MO. She taught Sunday School for many years. She loved to garden and feed the birds and squirrels. Her flowers were admired by many.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Glenna Anne, in infancy; sisters-in-law, Carol Dochterman and Helen Garrison; brothers-in-law, Alba Fountain, Eddie Hyde, and William Purvis.
She is survived by her son, Gary Leon Hyde of Bloomfield, IA, and her daughter, LaNell Ilene Hyde and Sean Waibel, and one grandchild, Ti Waibel, all of Memphis, MO; three sisters, Goldie Purvis of Council Bluffs, IA, Enid Brookhart and her husband, Jerry of Arbela, MO, and Darlene Steeples of Memphis, MO; one brother, Harold Garrison and his wife, Wanda of Wyaconda, MO; one sister-in-law, Joetta Fountain of Kahoka, MO; one brother-in-law, Robert Dochterman; several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
Memorials are suggested to the Arbela United Methodist Church, Hickory Grove Cemetery, or the Scotland County Cancer Fund.
Funeral services were held on September 9, 2006, at the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis, MO, with Rev. Carolyn Goyer officiating. Music was by Sarah Myers, organist, and Danielle Bair, soloist. Pallbearers were Jr. Bertram, Bill Wiley, Mike Steeples, Darwin Purvis, Marion Steeples, and Ronnie Dochterman. Interment was in the Hickory Grove Cemetery, northeast of Arbela, MO. Arrangements were under the direction of the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO.
