MARY NELL ROBINSON
(5/16/1920 – 8/5/2006)
Mary Nell Robinson, 86, of Downing, MO, passed away August 5, 2006 at Highland Crest in Kirksville, MO.
The daughter of Leo and Nellie Ross, she was born May 16, 1920, in Schuyler County, MO.
On September 1, 1937, she was united in marriage to John Woodrow Robinson who preceded her in death on September 12, 1994.
She is survived by two daughters, Marilyn Schmitter of Queen City, MO, and Carolyn Brenizer and husband, Larry of Mt. Pleasant, IA; Four grandchildren, Lisa Pearson and husband, Terry of Kirksville, MO, Steve Brenizer and wife, Kim of Pella, IA, Marla Elder and husband, Ted of Greentop, MO, and Greg Brenizer and wife, Michelle of Algonquin, IL; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Harris of Kirksville, MO; one brother, Max Petty of Houston, TX; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Ross of Downing, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers; one half-brother; one half-sister; and a step-sister.
Mary enjoyed life on the farm and all the wonders of nature, especially cardinals and the beautiful trees in the fall. Mary moved from the farm to Highland Crest Assisted Living in 2004 where she made new friends.
Mary was a member of the First Baptist Church in Downing, MO. Until her health failed, she was involved in various activities of the church. She enjoyed music, singing with her husband in quartets and duets, as well as church choir. She belonged to the Opportunity club. She enjoyed her flower gardens and sharing them with others.
Her church and family were the center of her life.
Funeral services were held August 9, 2006, at the Downing Baptist Church in Downing, MO with Norm Snowbarger assisted by David Barton, pastor of the Downing Baptist Church officiating. Music was provided by pianist, Twila Mathews and soloist, Norm Snowbarger. Pallbearers were Don Campbell, J.L. Newland, Larry Aeschliman, George Kethe, Robert Fugate and Ellis Speer. Memorials have been established for the Downing Baptist Church and Hospice. Burial was in the Downing Cemetery in Downing, MO. Arrangements were under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Downing, MO.
