Mareta (Golden) Riebel was born February 22, 1930, the daughter of Manly Arlow and Cleoan Ann (Allensworth) Golden.

She passed away July 29, 2006, in Memphis, MO.

Mareta was born and raised in the Rutledge, MO, area, graduating from the Rutledge High School in 1947. Mareta was quite a basketball player, being high scorer for her high school team, and chosen as one of Missouri’s All-State Basketball players. She loved to be outdoors riding her horse, Sam.

Mareta married Roger M. Riebel on January 18, 1948, in Memphis, MO. She spent her life as a housewife and mother. She loved to sew and was known for the western shirts she made. She had recently moved her membership from the Arbela United Methodist Church to Memphis United Methodist Church, and was a member of the VFW Post 4958 Ladies’ Auxiliary.

Mareta is survived by five children, Tommy and Nancy (Girardin) of Memphis, MO and his children, Kathy (Joel Harrity) of Blue Springs, MO, and Lee Riebel of Memphis, MO, Cheryl and Rick Golbricht and their children, Ki Robinson and Kelly (Joni) Robinson of Memphis, MO, Roger L. and Crystal of Memphis, MO, and their children, Ranina (Brian) Robinson, and Amanda (Chad) Alshouse of Altoona, IA, Karla and Tom Matlock and their children, Kris (Tenneille) Speer, Tiffany and Tara Matlock of Memphis, MO and Clay and Tammy Riebel and their children, Anthony Fox and Corey (Kim) Fox of Wayland, MO. Mareta is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren. Shana, Kaleb and Logan Reese, Zander Speer, Caelin Robinson, Mayson Robinson, and Aubrey, Trestin, Kaden and Johnathon Fox; and a brother, Delbert Shelton Golden of Rutledge, MO.

Mareta was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Lorene Skinner; and her brothers, Manly Junior, Melvin, Carl Dean, and George Golden.

The family has suggested memorials to the Memphis United Methodist Church and may be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison, Memphis, MO 63555.

Funeral services were held August 1, 2006, at the Memphis United Methodist Church in Memphis, MO, with Rev. Terry Lippstreu officiating. Pallbearers were Tony Shelley, Ronnie Kice, Greg Cowell, Donnie Harvey, Greg Rockhold and Lonnie Sears. Honorary pallbearers were Arlo Trueblood, Burdett Kice, Mike Stephenson, Dean Childress, Tom Priebe, and Jerry Sears. Interment was in the Memphis Cemetery, Memphis, MO. Arrangements were under the direction of the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO.
