HARLIE DALE FOGLE

Harlie Dale Fogle passed away June 8, 2006, in Texas City, TX.
He was born May 20, 1927, in Scotland County, MO.
Mr. Fogle had been a resident of Hitchcock, TX, since 1961, having previously lived in Galveston, TX, from 1946 to 1961. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and had been in the transportation industry his entire life. He had worked as a fireman on the Santa Fe Railroad in the late 40’s and early 50’s, owned and operated Fogle & Company in Hitchcock for 19 years and worked at St. John’s Stevedoring Co. in Galveston. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II, was a former Hitchcock City Commissioner and had served on several other city communities. He enjoyed flying, restoring automobiles (especially classic Mustangs) and his memberships included the Hitchcock Heritage Society, Santa Fe Historical Foundation and the Hitchcock Public Library.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Garland Fogle and sister, Patricia Ardell Shultz.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Mary Ann (Schanzer) Fogle; sons, Dale, Jr. and his wife, Renee, David and wife, Alyson, Danny and wife, Sheila; daughter, Dana Loop and husband, Alan; grandchildren, Jordan Fogle, Jeffrey Loop, Jonathan and Collin Fogle; Stephen Todd; brother-in-law, Luke Schanzer and wife, Tine; sister-in-law, Virginia Schanzer; niece, Kathy Stanfield and husband, Bart; cousin, Rex Wielbrenner and wife, Carman and numerous other relatives.
A funeral mass was celebrated on June 13, 2006, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Reverend John Kappe, celebrant. Interment was at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock, TX, under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home. Casketbearers were David Catching, Joe Raitano, W.T. “Bill” Reitmeyer, Jr., Greg Sampson, Tom Schanzer and Randy Wright. Memorials may be a donation to Our Lady of Lourdes School or to the American Lung Association.
