Viva Reed, 95, passed away June 17, 2006, at the Schuyler County Nursing Home in Queen City, MO, where she had been a resident since February 2005.
The daughter of Arteneous and Orpha (Butts) Aeschliman, she was born on February 25, 1911, in rural Downing, MO.
On March 12, 1927 in Albany, MO, she was united in marriage to William Russell Reed and to this union two children were born, Norma Ruth and William Wesley.
Viva is survived by her children, Norma Ruth Bradford of Centralia, MO, and William Wesley Reed of Lancaster, MO; four grandchildren, Sandra Lee, Linda Folkerth, Robert Bradford and Sealann Bradford; four great-grandchildren, Melinda Hurd, Laura Folkerth, Tyler Lee and Justin Folkerth, and other family and friends.
Preceding Viva in death are her parents; her husband, William Russell Reed on July 3, 1999; three brothers, Paul, Jonathan and Herbert Aeschliman; four sisters, Jemima Lamb, Catherine Fretz, Delpha Krug and Cecil Lennbacker; one son-in-law, Seal Bradford and William’s companion, Lola Mae Gragg.
Viva was a member of the Darby Christian Church and later attended the Lancaster Christian Church. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was a homemaker all her life and later she and her husband cared for elderly people in their home. Viva was a mother, grandmother, sister and friend, who treasured her family dearly.
Funeral services will be held June 22, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, MO, with Robert Harrison, pastor of the Lancaster Baptist Church officiating. Music will be furnished by organist, Maureen Watkins. Pallbearers will be Larry Aeschliman, Bryce Tallman, Gordon Ford, Robert Bradford, Bud Lancaster, and Bill Brunk. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. Memorials have been established for Darby Cemetery, Lancaster Christian Church or donor’s choice. Burial will be in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, MO. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home.
