REBA L. PARKER
(1/6/1918 – 3/8/2006)
Reba L. Parker, 88, of Memphis, MO, died at her home in Memphis on March 8, 2006.
She was born January 6, 1918 in Lewis County, MO, to Julian C. and Mattie Thompkins Lay.
She married Raymond L. Parker on April 25, 1941 at her parents’ home. To this union three children were born.
Reba was a member of the Memphis United Methodist Church and the Priscilla Circle. She also loved to sew and was a member of the Methodist Quilters. She was a graduate of Monticello High School and attended Missouri State Teachers College. She taught in Plano, Derrahs and Lindale country schools. She was a homemaker and loved gardening and working with her flowers and was very active as a 4-H leader.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond, of Memphis, MO, two daughters: Norma Woods and her husband, Eddie of Memphis, MO, and Marilyn Wangen and her husband, Dave of Duluth, Minnesota and a son, Dale Parker of Seattle, WA. Other survivors include five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two brothers; Dale Lay and his wife, Margaret of LaBelle, Missouri and Delbert Lay and his wife Martha Jean of Industry, IL. She was preceded in death by two sisters.
Funeral services were held at the Memphis United Methodist Church on March 11, 2006 with the Reverends Terry Lippstreu and Charles Hammack officiating. Music was provided by Connie Courtney and LaMayra Brown. Burial was at Canton, MO, in Forest Grove Cemetery. Casket bearers were Jon Flanders, Chris Flanders, Tim Woods, Dana Woltman, Jacob Woods and Dale Robertson.
